Giving Thanks

You all have been really great since I started this site, and the radio show.  This year has been quite eventful and everything is on a positive upswing and I want to extend a huge “Thank you” to everyone.

The Retirement Report has seen great response with the change to a new panel format.  My partners in crime, Dr. Friday and Attorney Russ Cook, and I have really meshed as a trio and our viewers have taken to them quite well.  I firmly believe in a team approach when it comes to planning your estate and retirement, and I am glad our team has served you well.

Dr. Friday and I have taken our camaraderie to the airwaves of Newsradio 1510AM WLAC on Sundays on the Financial Lifestyle Show.  A radio show is something I have wanted to do and to say that I am excited this goal has come to fruition is an understatement.  Every Sunday I get to share my expertise with so many people from all over.  Each caller has great questions that everyone can benefit from.  If you haven’t already been listening, I hope you can tune in.

If you can’t listen, I invite you to check out the podcasts we have available.  They’re perfect for the long drive to and from your Thanksgiving family road-trips.

This week,  I will be doing my own annual trip with my family to the fair city of Atlanta, GA.  I hope you enjoy your holiday traditions, and relish the time spent with loved ones.  I leave you with this:  As you take in what surrounds you – your children, partner, family, home and your life – thank yourself for the ability to attain it all.  You worked really hard for it so perhaps now it’s time to consider new options to maintain what is yours, and to make sure that everything you worked for is going to work hard for you.

Happy Thanksgiving.

August 9th – The Financial Lifestyle Show

Launch date for the radio show has been moved again but we’re pretty certain August 9th is the kick-off for my show with Dr. Friday Burke.

We have a few things in store for you, and one thing that might entice you all is the giveaway that we’re doing.  Up for grabs are copies of Dr. Friday’s book, booklets of topics from my upcoming book, gift certificates and even Financial Planning kits. Check back on how you could win.

The podcasts of the show will also be available on here and on my company’s site for download.

I’m finishing up spending time with my family in New Hampshire but I’ll be back, full force come Friday and it will be a new episode of the Retirement Report this week so do tune in. Again, the number to call is 615-797-PLUS (615-797-7587).

Golden Years

Clarice Morant made a promise to take care of her brother and sister’s needs as long as she was able to:

“I made a promise to the Lord,” she explained. “If he give me the health, the strength, the life to do for them, take care of them, keep them from going in a home, I would do it. And as long as he give it to me, I will give it to them.”

And give to them she did – as tiny as she was, she lifted and bathed her brother and sister who had dementia and Alzheimer’s respectively. She saw to all their needs when their caregivers went home in the evenings. When her siblings died, Morant was 104. This week Clarice “Classy” Morant herself passed away, surrounded by family and friends from all over the country.

We may not all be as fortunate to have a Classy in our lives. But there are many resources available to us either as caregivers or as people who are planning to be cared for. As we age, our futures are hard (but not impossible) to predict and it is prudent that we cover the bases so our transitions are smoother for ourselves and those around us.

This Friday on my show, I sit with Tonya Zuckerman, Founder and President of Senior Pathways, a referral service for older adults and their families. We will discuss the planning involved and talk about the many options out there to help you in providing for your own care or that of a loved. I have helped many clients in their retirement planning with take advantage of resources they were not aware existed. Please join us, we’ll be taking calls so tune in when we go live in the morning at 8AM on News Channel 5+.

I look forward to hearing from you.
